Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London.
The incident reportedly occurred on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police were called after the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm and made threats of violence and blackmail toward Udogie’s companion.
A 31-year-old man was arrested two days later on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has been released on bail as investigations continue. There is no suggestion the suspect is Udogie’s agent.
Despite the ordeal, Udogie continued playing and featured in Tottenham’s next match, a 3–1 league win over West Ham on 13 September.
A Spurs spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
