Google has unveiled major upgrades to its Gemini AI, pushing smartphones and wearables closer towards becoming proactive digital assistants.
The new Magic Cue feature, debuting on the Pixel 10 range, is designed to anticipate user needs by connecting data from across apps like Gmail, Maps and Calendar. When making an airline call, booking details can appear automatically in the dialer, while a message about brunch may prompt café suggestions alongside calendar availability.
Analysts view this integration as an early step toward “agentic AI” — assistants that act autonomously with context. Running on Google’s new Tensor G5 chip, tools like Magic Cue execute directly on the device for speed and privacy.

Smarter Photography
A new AI-powered Camera Coach analyses scenes in real time to suggest framing, lighting and better angles, aiming to improve casual photography skills.
Pixel Watch 4
Gemini also arrives on the wrist. The new Pixel Watch 4 integrates health coaching via Fitbit, offering personalized sleep and workout plans, real-time fitness tracking, and conversational health advice.
Other upgrades include a larger domed screen (+10%), the first Google smartwatch with satellite SOS in the US, and a design built for repairability featuring serviceable batteries and screens. Available in two sizes, from £349 (€499 / $349 / A$579).
Pixel Buds 2a
Google also launched affordable earbuds featuring noise cancelling and the Tensor A1 chip found in its premium models. Gemini AI is built in, offering assistant access.
Priced at £129 (€149 / $129 / A$239), the Buds 2a case has a replaceable battery, though the earbuds remain non-repairable.
Big Picture
By embedding Gemini AI across phones, watches, and earbuds, Google is positioning its hardware ecosystem around AI that anticipates and acts, not just responds. With Magic Cue and Camera Coach leading the way, Google aims to redefine daily device interactions as truly proactive rather than reactive.
