Serie A has cancelled plans to stage a league match between AC Milan and Como in Perth.
The fixture would have been the first major European domestic league game played outside its home country.
The decision followed what Serie A described as unacceptable conditions imposed by the Asian Football Confederation.
Those demands created financial risks and last-minute complications for organisers.
Serie A president Ezio Simonelli said the match could no longer proceed under those circumstances.
The game had been moved because the San Siro will host the Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
Italian football authorities and Uefa had previously approved the relocation.
Serie A viewed the match as a chance to promote the league internationally.
Plans had already stalled after AFC conditions over match officials.
The cancellation follows a similar decision by La Liga, which dropped plans for a game in Miami.
